Your next pumpkin season starts at the end of your current pumpkins season. My soil is very full of clay and I figured it was time to turn it. I have tried broadforking the soil, but it has become so compact, I decided to take extreme measures.
I added 16 tons of sand and four yards of compost after I finished turning the soil for my pumpkin patch. I feel soil health is as important, if not more important than the genetics of the pumpkin seed.
Here’s hoping that everyone grows a giant pumpkin in 2018!
